This page details recent outages and scheduled works.
Network outage: Monday the 26th of July: 11:30a.m. We are aware of an issue affecting service in Preston Richard, Witherslack, Hincaster, Crosthwaite, Old-Hutton, Stainton, Levens and Heversham. Engineers are working to restore service to customers whilst the root cause of the fault is identified.
Update 11:37a.m. Service to Preston Richard has been restored.
Update 11:42a.m. Service to Levens, Crosthwaite, Witherslack, & Hincaster has been restored.
Update 11:52a.m. Service to Heversham has been restored.
Update 12:13p.m. Service to Stainton has been restored.
Update 12:27p.m. Root cause is suspected to be located at Old Hutton. Network Operations Engineers continue working to resolve connectivity to customers whilst Network Build Team are informed and mobilised.
Update 12:47p.m. Service to some customers in Preston Patrick have been inadvertently impaired during this outage. Additional engineers are working to resolve this issue.
Update 1:06p.m. Service to Preston Patrick has been restored.
Update 1:08p.m. ETA on Network Operations Engineer arrival at Old Hutton for immediate resolution of service to customers 1:30pm.
Update 1:30p.m. Network Operations Engineer arrived at Old Hutton and started diagnostics.
Update 1:50p.m. Service to Old Hutton has been restored.
Update 1:55p.m. Now all major service outages have been resolved, work begins on the root cause of the fault, updates to follow.
Update 2:15p.m. Fibre fault located on Old Hutton Route One 1.1km out from the cabinet, Engineering teams are being directed to the fault for cable repair.
Update 5:25p.m. The fault has been located and works have started, a section of cable will be replaced tonight with works anticipated to continue into tomorrow for 55 customers, and those customers will be notified of progress as we continue the repair work.
Update: Tuesday the 27th of July: 10:00a.m. Engineers have begun works to reconnect effected services in Old Hutton. We anticipate the beginning of service restoration as works continue throughout today.

Update 1pm Customer services now starting to return.
Update 3pm all customer connections now repaired.
Network outage: Halton. Tuesday the 13th of July: 8:45a.m. We are aware of an issue in Halton. Engineers are investigating the issue.
Update 9:40a.m. A fibre break has been identified as the cause of the issue. Engineers are investigating the break location.
Update 10:30a.m. Engineers are working on the damaged fibre.
Update 11:00a.m. We are starting to see some customers in Halton come live via an alternate link.
Update 11:45a.m. The core of Halton and the vast majority of customers are now live. Engineers are continuing work to bring customers who live to the east of the village live.
Update 12:45p.m. Engineers are continuing work to reinstate fibre to route 1 of Halton. The outage is still affecting customers who live to the east of Halton. This includes the Crook of Lune, Halton Park, Lower Addington and Lower / Nether Highfield areas.
Update 4:00p.m. Engineers are still working to reinstate connections that are down due to th fibre strike.
Update 5:00p.m. Normal service resumed for all customers

Scheduled Maintenance: New Hutton Tuesday 13th July 2021 8a.m. to Noon. Works to chambers in the New Hutton area will result in temporary loss of service for three customers in the New hutton Area. Affected customers have been notified by e-mail and SMS.
Scheduled Maintenance: Scheduled maintenance of a significant proportion of the wider B4RN network will be carried out on Thursday the 8th of July 2021 from 3a.m. to 8a.m. During that timeframe, you will experience extended periods when you are unable to connect to the internet or use your IP phones. Update 08:15 08/07/2021 : We are aware that some areas have an issue with routing outside the network. Engineers are working to resolve the issue Update 08:45 08/07/2021 : Engineers are still working on resolving issues on the network. Update 09:00: Engineers continue to work to resolve the issue. Update 09:45: We are still seeing issues affecting a large number of customers. Update 10:00: Engineers are working to resolve the issue. Update 10:15: Engineers are working to resolve the routing issues. Update 10:30: We are starting to see some customers coming live. Engineers are working to resolve the routing issues. Update: 11:15: Customers are coming back on area by area. Engineers are working to resolve the oustanding issues. Update 12:45: The majority of customers are now live but we are still seeing issues for some areas. Engineers are working to resolve these remaining issues. Update 17:30: Most issues have been resolved. Some customers may need to restart their router if they are having problems connecting to google, amazon or some other web services.

Scheduled Maintenance: Calder Vale Tuesday 6th July 2021 Noon to 1p.m. Urgent works requiring replacement of one of the switches at Caler Vale will be carried out on Tuesday the 6th of June from Noon to 1p.m. Depending on the switch you are connected to, this will either be an outage of 1 hour (switch 1 customers) or 15 minutes (all other customers). Customers have been notified by e-mail as to which group they are in via e-mail and sms. Update 12:45: Works complete
Scheduled Maintenance: Tunstall Monday 5th of July 2021 17:15 / 17:45: Urgent works requiring a restart of the Tunstall switch stack with be carried out this evening. The restart will take place between 17:15 / 17:45 and will cause an outage of up 15 minutes.
Network outage: Saturday the 3rd of July: 12:00 Calder Vale. We are aware of an issue that briefly affected customers in the Calder Vale area. Service has been restored and our network engineers are monitoring the situation, with remedial actions in consideration. Network outage: Wednesday 30th of June: 18:40 Calder Vale. We are aware of an issue that briefly affected customers in the Calder Vale area. Service has been restored and our network engineers are monitoring the situation. Scheduled Maintenance: Mansergh: Friday the 2nd of July, from 8:00a.m. to 4p.m. Work will be carried out to replace fibre in a small area of Mansergh. Works will affect two notified customers.
Network outage: Monday 28th of June: noon. We are aware of an issue affecting a large number of customers. Engineers are aware of the issue and are working towards resolution. Update 12:35p.m. Normal service has been resumed for the majority of customers. Third Party Maintenance Rescheduled: Norfolk: Saturday the 26th of June, rescheduled to Saturday the 17th of July 2021 10p.m. to 5a.m. Sunday. Construction work affecting national fibre networks will be carried out in Snow Hill, Suffolk. We are expecting loss of service to all our Norfolk customers during the maintenance window.
Network outage: Friday 25th of June: 11:00 a.m. We are aware of a fibre break in the Yealand Conyers area. Update 11:50a.m. Engineers are deploying to the break to assess the situation. Update 13:00: Engineers on site Update 15:30: Normal service resumed.
Scheduled Maintenance: Halton Forgebank: Thursday the 24th of June, from 9:30a.m. to 3p.m. This will affect approximately forty notified customers with rolling outages covering each customer for up to 60 minutes.
Scheduled Maintenance: Dolphinholme: Tuesday the 22nd of June, from 8:30a.m. to 4p.m. Work will be carried out to replace fibre in a small area of Dolphinholme. Works will affect a small number of notified customers.
Scheduled Maintenance: Ingleton: Tuesday the 22nd of June, from 7a.m. to 8a.m. Work will be carried out to reroute fibre in a small area of Ingleton. Works will affect a small number of notified customers.
Scheduled Maintenance of core fibre will be carried out on Tuesday the 22nd of June, from 6a.m. to 8a.m. During that timeframe, you will experience periods when you are unable to connect to the internet or use your IP phones. The outage is not expected to cover the whole two-hour period. Customers have been notified. The maintenance will affect the following areas:

Network outage: Tuesday 22nd June: Noon We have been notified of an issue in the Allendale Town Area, engineers are investigating. Update 12:37: We are aware of a fibre break on route 2. This is affecting the majority of customers beyond the golf club. Update 14:00: The exact location of the break has been determined. Engineers have notified us that they will be on the ground on Wednesday morning to commence repairs. Update: Wednesday 23rd June 10:45: Engineers are on site and are preparing to effect a repair, commencing shortly. Update 14:00 : engineers report the repair is well underway and customers are starting to come live again. Update 15:40 : Engineers report the repair has been completed, with all services restored.
Network Issues: Sunday 20th June: 9.30am We have been notified of an issue in the Lewfa and Keasden area, engineers are investigating. Update, 10.15, engineers have found the fault and are starting repairs, most customers will get service back in the next half hour. Update, 10.27: customers in Austwick/Lewfa are now back online. Update, 10.55 am Keasden repaired now.
Network Issues: Saturday 19th June. 2pm We are aware of a problem affecting some customers in the Scole/Tivetshall/Burston area. Engineers are investigating. Update 3.45pm: Issue is now resolved. If you continue to experience problems please turn off any boosters/meshes/repeaters and reboot the B4RN router. Once it is working put your own network back on again and all should be well. Please ring the helpdesk on 01524238499 option 2 and leave a message if the systematic reboot doesn’t fix your connection.
Network Outage: Dunsop-Bridge and Chipping: Tuesday the 9th of June, 10:20 We are aware of an outage effecting our customers in the Dunsop-Bridge area as well as a small number in the Chipping area. Engineers are on route to investigate and if possible effect a repair today. We will provide updates when they become available. Update: Tuesday the 9th of June, 13:00 Engineers are on site and working to effect a repair. Update: Tuesday the 9th of June, 17:15 Engineers have installed replacement fibre, and are beginning works to reconnect Customers. Update: Tuesday the 9th of June, 18:10 Engineers have restored service to Dunsop Bridge. Work continues to restore service to those affected in Chipping. Update: Tuesday the 9th of June, 18:30p.m. We are starting to see the remaining Chipping customers come live. Update: Tuesday the 9th of June, 21:00 Engineers continue to work on bringing the last couple of customers live. Update: 21:15: Normal service resumed. Scheduled Maintenance: Allendale Town: Thursday the 17th of June, from 9:30a.m. to 3p.m. Work will be carried out to replace fibre on Allendale Town route two. This will affect approximately thirty notified customers with the outage covering the majority of the maintenance window.
Scheduled Maintenance: Cantsfield: Thursday the 10th of June, from 8a.m. to 10a.m. Repairs to compromised fibre will be carried out in the Cantsfield area. The works are only expected to affect three properties which have been notified.
