B4RN has launched its Volunteer Handbook!
The 16-page booklet, titled “Volunteering with B4RN – An Introduction”, will be handed to new volunteer groups.
The Handbook includes:
– An introduction to B4RN
– The roles of B4RN volunteers
– An explanation of the phases of a B4RN project
– A run down of the training B4RN volunteers can receive
– Signposting to additional support and contacts
B4RN’s Volunteer & Media Manager Jorj Haston said: “With guidance and support from B4RN, anyone can help build the network.
“Each area that rises to the B4RN challenge has found it a wonderfully empowering and socially engaging opportunity.
There’s nothing like building something yourself and having that sense of pride and ownership of a job well done! The community’s energy and interaction become quite infectious, and many volunteers choose to stay on and help other areas get up and running long after they themselves are connected.”
B4RN’s Trainer of Volunteers, Sarah Pollitt, added: “We need your help and support to keep going, there are many volunteering opportunities, big and small. Go get your spade and join in the fun!”
The Handbook is also available as a PDF on the Resources page of the website, under the Volunteer tab. For a direct link, click here.
Alternatively, you can view the Handbook using this Sway (best viewed in full screen, then click or tap the front cover):
The Handbook features sketches of B4RN in action by artist Irene Sanderson, who’s been volunteering with and documenting the Kirkoswald project. You can find out more about Irene on her website.
