Digging is underway on the B4RN network in Crosthwaite, just ten weeks after the project began.

Local volunteers and contractor Tony Swiddenbank started laying ducting this week – expanding B4RN’s gigabit full fibre network out from Levens.

Volunteer Andrew Brown posted on social media: “It’s official! We’ve started cutting turf with a good representation of the team that made it happen present (pictured).

“Thank you team, along with all of you who have signed up and granted wayleaves. A momentous occasion for the Lyth Valley area and all the more important to keep the momentum going.

“Please keep encouraging people to sign up to B4RN.”

One of the first beneficiaries will be Crosthwaite School, who took to Twitter about it:

The local B4RN project leader Stewart Wren said: “To get to this point after less than four months is amazing, well done to the team and all the local landowners who have supported us so far.

“Just another 10km to go…”

Stories from out in the field from our very happy customers

One residential customer in Over Kellet used to know whether it was worth firing up her computer by looking out of her front window to see what the weather was doing with her telephone line.

It has allowed us to improve our farm business through the implementation of Wi-Fi heat detection ankle bands on our herd, and thus improving our business productivity.

OMG it is amazing! I don’t want to go back to London, which was faster than here, but not now! Just to say a BIG THANK YOU to all you guys, what a great thing you are doing. I’m shocked not everyone is signing up!

After lambing 1300 ewes a good film is what I want to watch and because we have B4RN that is no problem. Just enables me and my family to get on.
