If your postcode is currently in the Feasibility stage of your local project.
This means we’re assessing demand in your local area and planning how to connect you.
You will receive an email when your project moves to the next stage, which will be Development.
If your postcode is in the Development phase.
We’re confirming demand in your local area and securing funding from grants and investment. B4RN planners are working with local volunteers and landowners to develop detailed plans to get your community connected.
You can get involved in your local volunteer group and help out. B4RN volunteers participate in a wide range of activities, from planning and walking routes, gathering wayleaves, encouraging sign-up and investment, digging trenches, coordinating site work between volunteers and landowners, laying duct, installing chambers, helping to connect customers... and of course feeding the B4RN troops (none of this would be possible without tea and cake).
No prior experience is necessary, and where specific skills are required, we provide a range of training. B4RN volunteers gain a wide range of new skills and experience as the project develops.
To find out more contact your local group, alternatively give us a call and we will point you in the right direction.
You will receive an email when your project moves to the next stage, which will be Delivery.
What to Expect
A week prior to progressing to the next stage, Delivery, you will be contacted by our Customer Engagement Team to confirm your application, discuss your new B4RN service and explain how we move forward with your connection.
After confirmation and conversion of service requests your project will move into Delivery assuming all delivery criteria is met.
As this point you will receive an update with information regarding your installation process.
Because of the unique way the B4RN network is built working shoulder to shoulder with communities, we don’t follow a traditional network rollout.
Instead, we adopt a hybrid approach using B4RN staff, contractors and most importantly, volunteers.
This may sometimes lead to a slightly longer consultation period but we believe this is necessary to reach as much of our rural communities as possible.
If your postcode is in the delivery phase the following process will commence.
Our Customer Connections Coordinator will be in touch to assess your installation status.
They will arrange with you to complete any outstanding installation requirements.
You may be visited by one of our B4RN approved Contractors or your local Community Teams.
Initially we will be looking at Garden Digs (duct from boundary to property) and House Kit Installation in preparation for your house fibre to be ‘blown in’.
Once the house fibre is in and the network has been built past your property your are ready for you B4RN live date.
The Customer Connections Coordinator with be offering Router fitting days throughout the build depending on where your network build is currently at.
Finally, the engagement team will be in touch approximately 1 month prior to the live date to organise contract signing, direct debit set up and any other admin that may be required prior to connection.
If your postcode is falling into the Infill phase then the B4RN network is live in your local area.
We will try to connect you as quickly as possible, but further engineering or installation works may be required, depending on the status of your property.
What to Expect
A Connection Coordinator will assess the installation and assess if any wayleaves are missing.
We will outline whether any resources are required for remedial works of which we will arrange with you directly. Our Engagement team will then contact you to organise contract signing, direct debit set up and any other administration that may be required prior to connection.
If you require a router installation our Connections Team will arrange a convenient time for a B4RN staff member or local volunteer to complete this.
