As followers of this site will know there has been lots of activity lately from many members of the community involving big diggers, spades, wellies, mud, cups of tea and most importantly, cake!

Well the work is still going on and has continued further with active digs in Arkholme, Quernmore, Roeburndale and Littledale.

Some properties in Arkholme have received the B4RN customer property equipment which has been connected up ready for “go live” as can be seen in this set of photographs. Activity here shows the fibre being blown through the duct, (we use compressed air to blow it along inside the plastic ducts that have been laid), splicing (joining of two pieces) of the fibre optic cable and finally connection to the customer equipment.

Work to finish the Quernmore part of the route is nearly competed in readiness for the route to head across to Abbeystead as can be see in this set of photographs. Some of the duct can be seen with sponsor names written on. Don’t forget if you want a unique way to be part of this network you can sponsor the ducting by following this link and contribution via PayPal.

Yet again, great work by all of the community members. Thanks go to everyone involved, whatever your role.

There are some great stories coming out from the various areas and an article written and posted recently about the effects of the B4RN project in terms of local economy and community cohesion can be seen by following this link. It’s a super article and perfectly describes what B4RN is all about. Yes it’s about providing a super fast broadband service for generations to come, but it’s more than that as you will see when you read the article.

Stories from out in the field from our very happy customers

One residential customer in Over Kellet used to know whether it was worth firing up her computer by looking out of her front window to see what the weather was doing with her telephone line.
