The first in-person Volunteer Coordinators’ Day for 18 months has been held at B4RN’s Melling HQ.
Numbers were limited due to coronavirus, but volunteers from groups across our patch turned out on Saturday.
They learned skills and shared best practice in planning, installing and running a fibre broadband network.
Sessions were run on: Duct mapping; Wayleaves; Safe digging; Fitting house kits; and getting customers connected.
Volunteers and staff were fuelled by a ‘Jacob’s Join’ lunch – thanks to everyone who contributed to that!
As already mentioned, this was the first face-to-face Volunteer Coordinators’ Day since February 2020, though a virtual one was held in July this year.
B4RN’s Volunteer Trainer, Sarah Pollitt, said it was great to get together: “The last 18 months have been challenging for everybody, so it was nice to connect in-person again. New groups in particular have been denied the opportunity these events provide to pick the brains of more experienced volunteers who’ve ‘been there, done that’. Thanks everyone for coming!”
The day concluded with the winners of the B4RN Quiz and B4RN Bingo being announced – congratulations to anyone who went away with a prize!
The next opportunity for volunteers to gather at Melling will be a Christmas get together on Friday 10th December, 2pm.
