Sedbergh School Live On B4RN
April 28th, 2023
Sedbergh School is now live on B4RN's 10Gbps service!
The Yorkshire Dales National Park's biggest employer chose B4RN as its connectivity solution ahead of some big competitors.
The School's Casterton site is also due to be connected, with works due to take place during the next half term.
There's potential to upgrade to 20Gbps, 40Gbps, or even 100Gbps.
It means pupils can look forward to unrivalled connectivity inside the classroom - building digital confidence and getting pupils ready for the future and world of work.
Sedbergh School has nine boarding houses and, during out of hours downtime, potentially 600 young people all trying to stream in the evenings. Even at peak demand - when the school says it needs 7Gpbs - the B4RN service will have room to spare!
B4RN's 10Gbps service will also play a crucial role as Sedbergh School expands its IT & Digital offer and upgrades its hardware.
In 2025, a new Technology Centre (pictured) is due to open on the school grounds, having been granted planning permission by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.
Among the many benefits of increased connectivity is the prospect of more cross-curricular use of artificial/augmented/virtual reality.
Meanwhile, the school's networking infrastructure has been replaced in partnership with Hewlett Packard.
You can see the result of all this in a speedtest pictured below, taken on site at Sedbergh School.
