If you have been following the posts here then you will know that the last few months have been very busy for the B4RN project. The whole community have been getting involved in the various aspects of deploying the core network. It hasn’t been easy, not least because of the terrible weather. We have been learning fast though and yesterday it was reported on the BBC that the first 14 properties have been connected to the live service. You can see the report below.
There was also a lengthy report featured on BBC Radio Lancashire which can be heard here.
These properties have been running in a test phase whilst we check the network infrastructure. There are currently around 75 other properties that have been supplied and fitted with the customer equipment and will be connected very soon, they are just awaiting final splicing into the core fibres.
This is a major milestone for B4RN and would not have been possible without the support of investors, (in time, money and experience) and the community. Not to mention the words of support from the industry experts which confirmed that we were taking the right course of action.
We have been asked by many people if we will be having a launch event. The answer is yes, once we have some time available to organise a proper event. It will be soon and will probably take the form of a demonstration of the network and allow attendees to bring their own devices and see for themselves. Watch this space. Oh yes, cake will be available. It’s the B4RN law!
Thank you to all who have contributed so far. In whatever way.
B4RN is still looking for investors with the current offer open until the 15th December. Find out more here.
