Position: Principal Fibre Engineer
Salary: £29,000 - £33,000 according to experience, with opportunities for overtime and call-out retainers
Location: Based in Melling, Lancashire
Contract: Full Time, 35 hours per week plus overtime

The Role
We’re looking for a hands-on and supportive Principal Fibre Engineer to help lead and grow B4RN’s Fibre to the Home network. You’ll play a key role in shaping how our network is deployed, optimised and maintained, while mentoring and guiding our engineering team. What You Will Be Doing
Lead the deployment and optimisation of our broadband network, ensuring reliable, high-quality connections for our customers.
Mentor and guide the Core Engineering team during installations, splicing, testing and commissioning.
Develop and maintain standards, best practices and procedures to keep the network running smoothly.
Solve complex network challenges, identify root causes and implement lasting improvements.
Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to plan network expansions, upgrades and projects.
Participate in our 24/7 operations via an on-call rota to address critical network issues.
Maintain accurate records of network changes, configurations and issues.
Mentor and guide the Core Engineering team during installations, splicing, testing and commissioning

We’re seeking a proactive problem solver who enjoys supporting and inspiring others. The ideal candidate will have experience in fibre engineering, ideally with Fibre to the Home networks, and strong communication and collaborative skills.
