This guide takes you through how to set your mesh up in Access Point mode
Many Wi-FI Mesh systems tend to set themselves up in router mode. This can cause network issues as both your B4RN router and Mesh system may both try and issue IP leases to your devices. There should only be one device on your network doing this and it should normally be the B4RN router.
Note that manufacturers use different terminology to describe Access Point mode.
This guide assumes you've already gone through the set up of your Wi-Fi Mesh system and have got it working. The settings below are something the manufacturers don't fully make clear.
TP Link Deco models
Launch the Deco app on your phone or tablet. You'll have used this to set up the mesh system
Tap More in the bottom right corner then tap Advanced
Tap Operating Mode and choose Access Point mode.
The app will say it's going to reboot the mesh units, tap OK
Tenda Nova models
Launch the Tenda app on your phone or tablet. You'll have used this to set up the mesh system
Choose Settings then Internet Settings to enter the configuration page
Tap Connection Type
Select Bridge or Access Point (different models use differing terminology)
Tap Save
The mesh units will reboot
Linksys Velop models
Launch the Linksys app on your phone or tablet. You'll have used this to set up the mesh system
Tap the Menu icon
Tap on Advanced Settings and then select Internet Settings
Tap on Connection Type and select Bridge Mode
Tap Save
Tap Enable Bridge Mode when you are ready
While saving your settings, your devices may disconnect temporarily until the changes have been applied
Once done, the dashboard should display that your mesh system is now in bridge mode.
Mercusys models
Launch the Mercusys app on your phone or tablet. You'll have used this to set up the mesh system
Tap More in the bottom right corner then tap Advanced
Tap Operating Mode and choose Access Point mode.
The app will say it's going to reboot the mesh units, tap OK
