Can I get B4RN?

Great News

Your area is currently being evaluated for B4RN service! In order to make it happen, there needs to be enough demand, so if you would like B4RN, please complete the request form below.

What is B4RN?

B4RN is a Not-for-Profit Community Benefit Society. We work with your local community to build professional Fibre to the Home networks. Volunteers, landowners, and local contractors all play a vital part in the planning and construction of your local network, and the fact you are here reading this page means that a community group has already formed to support the build in your area! Building a network needs local investment and potential Gigabit Voucher grant support, so please continue reading to find out how you can help.

How can I help?

There are many ways to get involved in the planning and construction of the network, you can offer to volunteer your time to help organise and even dig part of it! Equally important is raising funds to support your local build. You can invest in shares to help fund the project. If you invest £1500 or more you will also get your connection fee waived. By signing up for a connection we can request a Gigabit voucher, if available, for your property.

Gigabit Vouchers

B4RN can access government funding to contribute towards the cost of bringing fibre broadband to your property. To access the funds we need to submit a Gigabit Voucher Request for your property. We will use the details you provide below to request the voucher. It is important to fill out and answer all the questions to the best of your knowledge. We can apply for higher levels of funding for businesses, so if you operate a business from your premises please indicate this in the form. Please reference our information leaflets for help regarding business eligibility and the information we require.

Why should I register?

This will allow for us to understand who wants B4RN service in your area, the local volunteer group and ourselves can then make the right decisions towards the deployment of service to you. It will also allow us to apply for a Gigabit voucher (if your property is eligible) which will then allocate Government grant funding towards the deployment of B4RN service in your local area, this in effect reduces the overall amount of local investment needed from the community to build the network.

Dig Grant

B4RN, as a Not-for-Profit Community Benefit Society, relies on the local volunteer groups and members of the community to help plan and build the network. Each household or business is responsible for the digging in of ducting from their property boundary to the point it enters the building. Plus the installation of the external and internal fibre boxes.

Once a voucher has been confirmed and claimed, you will be eligible for a dig grant from B4RN towards the installation of the required fibre boxes in the property and service duct throughout your curtilage to your boundary.

The value of the dig grant is £150, and there are three options.
1, You decide to dig the duct in and install the fibre boxes yourself. The grant will be paid to you directly by B4RN.
2, You book and pay for a B4RN approved contractor to carry out the works on your behalf. The grant will be paid to you directly by B4RN, you will need to pay the contractor and you will be responsible for any additional costs above the grant value.
3, It may be possible that your local volunteer group are able to carry out the works. If this is arranged then the grant will be paid directly to the local volunteer group by B4RN.

Payment will be made on completion of service delivery in conjunction with a signed 12 Month Service contract, and that you have clicked the required confirmation email sent from the Government Scheme.

What happens next?

We will get back in contact and let you know before we make the voucher submission for your property. Please contact your local coordinator for progress updates or to enquire about how you could get involved with your local B4RN project.

Please read the information page that will appear after you have filled in the form which explains the next steps.

Gigabit Voucher Request Form

Please fill out the form and answer all questions to the best of your knowledge, including whether or not you are a business. You may only request one voucher per property, and therefore one beneficiary (person). Multiple requests with the same email address and beneficiary are not accepted.

B4RN Message

Thank you for your interest in signing up for a B4RN service. Unfortunately, we are no longer accepting signup in your area.

The government’s gigabit broadband voucher programme, which we use to fund a community B4RN project, is no longer available in your area. The government are instead engaging in a tendering process with larger regional suppliers to provide broadband upgrades in your area. This means that we are unable to progress the rollout of your local B4RN project at the present time. If the government’s tendering exercise fails to appoint a supplier for your area, then B4RN will assess the feasibility of re-starting your local B4RN project in the future depending on the availability of funding.

Yes – B4RN has arrived in Burton in Lonsdale!

B4RN is a professionally designed fibre optic broadband Network that is built on the support of your Community. We are registered as a Non-profit Community Benefit Society and run by a dedicated local team with the support of Landowners and Volunteers. We offer 1,000Mbps FTTP broadband to every property in our coverage area, costing households & small businesses just £30 per month, with a one off connection fee of £150 (see below for those eligible for a free connection).

Your postcode is registered as part of the B4RN 4 Burton in Lonsdale (B4RN4BiL) Community Project which means B4RN service will be available in your postcode area.

What does this mean?

B4RN is a professional Fibre to the Property deployment that is built with the support of your Community, Volunteers, Landowners and Local Contractors who all play a vital part in the planning, development, funding and construction of the B4RN4BiL Network.

Building a Network has associated costs which are funded by local Community Investment and UK Gigabit Voucher grant funding. Early B4RN Networks were 100% funded through local Community Investment but now your Community project has the opportunity to be partially funded through the latest Government Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme.

B4RN have successfully secured UK Gigabit Voucher funding from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport for the B4RN4BiL project. This funding contributes towards the total project cost. However, the project also needs Community Investment.

Only when the project it 100% funded can the build commence in earnest.

What do I need to do?

By signing up for a B4RN connection on the form below we can request a UK Gigabit Voucher on your behalf. Your voucher will help support the build cost of your area. This will reduce the overall amount of local investment needed from your Community.

Equally important is raising funds to support your local build. You can invest in shares to help fund the project and if you are able to invest £1500 or more you will also get the £150 connection fee waived.

B4RN4BiL Volunteers have been working engaging with the Community to plan, and in some cases start building, the B4RN4BiL Network. There are many ways to get involved in the detailed planning and construction of the B4RN4BiL Network. If you are willing, and able, to join the B4RN4BiL Community Workforce and volunteer your time to help organise, and maybe even dig part of the Network, please get in touch with the Project Champion Simon Stockton (contact details on all B4RN4BiL leaflets). Project details and funding status can be found on the B4RN 4 Burton in Lonsdale website.

UK Gigabit Vouchers

B4RN can access government funding to contribute towards the cost of bringing fibre broadband to your property. To access the funds we need to submit a UK Gigabit Voucher Request for your property. We will use the details you provide below to request the voucher.

It is important to fill out and answer all the questions to the best of your knowledge. We can apply for higher levels of funding for businesses, so if you operate a business (including sole traders and partnerships) from your premises please indicate this in the form. Due to the higher level of funding for a business the £150 connection fee will be waived. The number of vouchers are capped, so if the cap is reached then we may not request a voucher for every property that signs up using the form below. However, every property that signs up using the form below will be treated as if a voucher was requested on their behalf, specifically they will still be eligible for a dig grant, as explained below.

If B4RN submit a voucher on your behalf you will be notified by email from DCMS and must confirm by email to DCMS that a voucher has been submitted by B4RN on your behalf. Submission might be delayed by B4RN to align with Government imposed voucher validity timescales.

If B4RN submit a voucher on your behalf on completion of 1 months service, you will receive an email from the DCMS asking you to confirm that you are happy with your B4RN connection. When you have approved your service with the DCMS B4RN will be able to claim your voucher.

For full details on vouchers and for help regarding business eligibility and the information we require for your application please reference our Business Voucher Leaflet or our Residents Voucher Leaflet.

Dig Grant

B4RN, as a Non-Profit Community Benefit Society, relies on the B4RN4BiL Community Workforce help build the B4RN4BiL Network. The main routes will be built using B4RN Contractors with the the spurs to each property boundary built by the B4RN4BiL Community Workforce.

However, each household, or business, is responsible for the digging of their own service ducting from their own boundary to the point it enters their property. This includes the installation of the external and internal fibre wall boxes.

A Dig Grant is available from B4RN to those eligible for a UK Gigabit Voucher (but only available to those who have requested B4RN in this initial phase of the project) to help with these costs.

The value of the Dig Grant is £150, and there are three options:

  1. You decide to dig the duct in and install the fibre boxes yourself. The grant will be paid to you directly by B4RN.
  2. You book and pay for a B4RN approved contractor to carry out the works on your behalf. The grant will be paid to you directly by B4RN, you will need to pay the Contractor and you will be responsible for any additional costs above the grant value.
  3. You request that the B4RN4BiL Community Workforce carry out the works. The grant will be paid directly to the B4RN4BiL Community Workforce by B4RN, who will distribute any surplus funds to other Community projects

If you wish to utilise option 3 please get in touch with your Zone Champion or Simon Stockton.

The Dig Grant payment will be issued after completion of the first months service.

What happens next?

Once the B4RN4BiL project is fully funded, through voucher funding and community investment, the build can begin, starting with you installing, or arranging the installation of, your home kit. Please get in touch with your Zone Champion to arrange this.

To understand more about how the B4RN service is brought into your property, please see the installation section of our Frequently Asked Questions page.

Please read the information page that will appear after you have filled in the form which explains the next steps.

Great news Strickland Roger!

Your postcode has been registered under the Gigabit Voucher Scheme for support towards the deployment of B4RN service in your area.

What does this mean?

B4RN is a professional Fibre to the Home deployment that is built on the support of your community. Volunteers, landowners, and local contractors all play a vital part in the planning and construction of the network, and the fact you are here reading this page means that a community group has already formed to support the build in your area! But building a network has an associated cost, and without local investment and potential Gigabit Voucher grant support it isn’t possible, so please continue reading to find out how you can help.

How can I help?

There are many ways to get involved in the planning and construction of the network, you can offer to volunteer your time to help organise and even dig part of it! But equally important is raising funds to support the local deployment, you can invest in shares and you can request a Gigabit Voucher (see below).

What do I need to do?

To request a voucher please fill out the form below, it is important to fill out and answer all the questions to the best of your knowledge. Please reference our information leaflets for help regarding business eligibility and the information we require.
Please carefully read the commitment you are making at the bottom of the form before you click the “Request” button. For more information on service tariffs please see here, and please indicate when you wish to take up service with B4RN, bearing in mind that this is an indication only, not a commitment from B4RN to provide on that date.

Why should I register?

Registering and completing the voucher process will then allocate Government grant funding towards the deployment of B4RN service in your local area, this in effect reduces the overall amount of local investment needed from the community to build the network.
Once a voucher has been confirmed and claimed you will receive a grant from B4RN towards the installation of the required termination boxes in the property and service duct throughout your curtilage to boundary. The value is £150 for residential and businesses, and it will be paid to you on completion of service delivery in conjunction with a signed 12 Month Service contract.

What happens next?

Please read the information page that will appear after you have filled in the form, but more generally your area is in the fund raising stage and you will be contacted by your local coordinator with more information regarding the plan to reach your property, timescales involved, community meetings, and engagement.

Gigabit Voucher Request Form

Please fill out the form and answer all questions to the best of your knowledge, including whether or not you are a business. You may only request one voucher per property, and therefore one beneficiary (person). Multiple requests with the same email address and beneficiary are not accepted. Please read carefully the commitment you are making at the bottom of the form before you click the “Submit Voucher Request” button.

Great news!

Your postcode IS registered under the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) Project Gigabit Scheme which can provide some Grant Funding support towards the deployment of B4RN service in your area.

What does this mean?

B4RN is a professional Fibre to the Home deployment that is built on the support of your community. Volunteers, landowners, and local contractors all play a vital part in the planning and construction of the network, and the fact you are here reading this page means that a community group has already formed to support the build in your area! But building a network has an associated cost, and without local investment and potential Project Gigabit Scheme grant support, it isn’t possible, so please continue reading to find out how you can help.

How can I help?

There are many ways to get involved in the planning and construction of the network, you can offer to volunteer your time to help organise and even dig part of it!
