Working With Us

Service Status

Those early B4RN projects were dug by hand with volunteers earning shares through digging trenches, carrying equipment, and even supporting by making tea and cake.

As the organisation has grown the approach has changed and more of the construction is now undertaken by staff and contractors.

Community groups and volunteers are still heavily involved, though. Without the volunteers, B4RN would not have been able to grow to an organisation with more than 12,000 customers.

We now have a strong construction team made up of B4RN staff and B4RN Contractors. These contractors have been specifically selected for their expert knowledge and equipment essential to our work in challenging project locations.

In addition to this, it is key that we obtain Wayleaves from Landowners who give permission for the B4RN Infrastructure to cross their land free of charge.

Investors in B4RN enables us to keep extending our reach to new areas crying out for reliable, hyperfast broadband that have previously consider too hard to reach by other telecoms suppliers.

In recent decades rural areas have suffered from a reduced number of job opportunities, but having reliable high speed internet gives businesses and homeworkers in our communities a huge advantage. This can then lead to more job opportunities so young people don’t have to move away. More young families mean better support for local schools, post offices, village shops… altogether a more sustainable community.

To ensure we retain long term knowledge, professionalism and stability we now employ our core technical and office staff. These are local jobs largely taken by local people who have already proved their ability and commitment. As B4RN grows, we intend to create more jobs throughout the B4RN area.

Stories from out in the field from our very happy customers

One residential customer in Over Kellet used to know whether it was worth firing up her computer by looking out of her front window to see what the weather was doing with her telephone line.

It has allowed us to improve our farm business through the implementation of Wi-Fi heat detection ankle bands on our herd, and thus improving our business productivity.

OMG it is amazing! I don’t want to go back to London, which was faster than here, but not now! Just to say a BIG THANK YOU to all you guys, what a great thing you are doing. I’m shocked not everyone is signing up!

After lambing 1300 ewes a good film is what I want to watch and because we have B4RN that is no problem. Just enables me and my family to get on.
