Network Planner

£25,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience)

Full time, permanent

B4RN is a rapidly expanding company providing fibre broadband to isolated communities in the UK. You will work in the Network Planning team to design new rural FTTP networks, manage changes and additions to existing networks and record installation information as networks are built and maintained.  You will work closely with project coordinators, B4RN engineers and community volunteers to create efficient route designs that account for terrain, obstacles and engineering factors.  You will also take on other mapping duties to support network development including gathering land ownership data and creating printed maps for staff and volunteers.

Requirements:

·       You will be computer literate, familiar with Microsoft office products especially Excel, and able to learn new software packages as needed

·       You must be detail-oriented, able to think critically, solve multi-faceted problem, and follow and maintain consistent standards of data

·       You will be able to communicate clearly and proactively with other teams, volunteers and within the planning team

·       You must maintain ongoing possession of a full, valid driving licence.

Helpful, although training will be provided:

·       Experience with digital mapping/GIS systems, in particular QGIS

·       FTTP network planning experience

You will either work from home or from our office in Melling and will be required to attend fortnightly team meetings in person.
