B4RN is an award-winning broadband provider.

In 2022, B4RN won ‘Broadband Provider of the Year’ and the ‘Community Improvement Award’ at Connected Britain – the UK’s #1 connectivity event.

Judges Comments for ‘Broadband Provider of the Year’

“The winner in this category has always had a commitment to ‘leave no-one behind’ and deliver quality service in challenging rural areas through community engagement. 10 years after connecting their first customers, this company looks sustainable – and now even scalable.

“One judge called this company ‘a leading light in the fibre industry’, with their entry showing great evidence of excellent customer service, innovative packages, and effective local partnerships below Council level.”

Judges Comments for the ‘Community Improvement Award’

“The Connected Britain judges were full of compliments for this company’s entry, with one describing it as ‘a legendary scheme that shows how to engage communities through volunteering to build out a future-proofed network.’

“This company is famed for helping rural communities to take connectivity matters into their own hands.”

Also in 2022, B4RN reclaimed its title of 'Best Rural ISP' at the INCA Awards.

Judges comments for Best Rural ISP: The judges were unanimous in picking B4RN for not only delivering a public good, working with the local community and reinvesting all their profits, but for being an effective business with some of the highest penetration rates in the UK.

Furthermore in 2022, B4RN also won 'Best Community Project' for the second year running at the INCA Gold Awards and also added the 'Outstanding Contribution' award.

Awards 2021

In 2021, B4RN was named ‘Best Community Project’ at the INCA Gold Awards and ‘Best Rural ISP’ at the ISPA Awards.

The ISPA judges felt that: “B4RN were worthy winners for continually making a genuine difference through their sheer bloody-mindedness, no matter hard an area is to reach, and innovative use of local volunteers – they even took the issue of government support to rural broadband to Parliament.”

Speaking about the INCA win, CEO Michael Lee said everyone in #teamB4RN was involved: “This award belongs to the communities, volunteers, champions and landowners that work every day to deliver future proof broadband to their communities.”

Chief Operating Officer Tom Rigg echoed those sentiments about the ISPA prize: “These awards are for you. All our communities, champions, volunteer, landowners – everyone! What an achievement, you deserve it!”

One residential customer in Over Kellet used to know whether it was worth firing up her computer by looking out of her front window to see what the weather was doing with her telephone line.
