We are seeking a Connections Engineer & Operational Support to help deliver reliable fibre broadband to rural communities within Norfolk. This role is ideal for individuals with technical expertise and a practical mindset who are ready to contribute to the development and maintenance of our network.

Role Overview:

As a Connections Engineer, you will ensure the efficient operation of the B4RN network by diagnosing and resolving network issues, installing fibre optic cabling, and coordinating customer connections. You will also work closely with local volunteers and contractors to maintain and expand the network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install fibre optic cabling, customer premises equipment, and infrastructure for both residential and commercial properties

  • Perform fibre splicing and testing using appropriate tools and techniques

  • Diagnose and resolve network faults, including customer-reported issues, through on-site and remote support

  • Coordinate connection schedules, working with local volunteers, contractors and stakeholders

  • Manage wayleaves with landowners and homeowners to support network development

  • Provide support to the core network team during faults such as fibre breaks or power outages

Requirements:

  • Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional evenings or weekends as required

  • This role will involve some home working and on site working, with occasional travel required to our Head Office in Melling, Lancashire.

  • Full, valid UK driving licence

  • Full colour vision (required for fibre splicing tasks)

  • Experience in fibre optic installation and network maintenance is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided
